Scott Uecker
Scott Uecker has worked in the broadcasting industry for 18 years. His career experiences have ranged widely from on-air work in radio news and sports to management positions in broadcast news, programming, engineering, and station operations. Scott’s latest career move has taken him into the allied field of education.
Scott has worked for a number of Indiana radio stations, but is probably best known for his work with Wabash Valley Broadcasting as director of news, operations, and programming for Network Indiana. Under his direction, the network grew from 35 affiliates in 1990 to more than 100 stations in 1997. He is the creator of the Network Indiana Wire Service and the widely acclaimed radio program Indiana Sports Talk. In addition to his on-air news anchoring, Scott’s sports play-by-play work includes eight years at the radio network level. He has broadcast more than 20 Indiana high school state championship games.
In 1997, Scott left Wabash Valley Broadcasting to become Chief Engineer and Operator for WICR-FM, a 30,000-watt equivalent public radio station in Indianapolis, owned by the University of Indianapolis. In that capacity, he was also responsible for the technical operation of the university’s television production facility.
In 2002, Scott became General Manager of WICR-FM and a full-time faculty member at the University of Indianapolis. His teaching includes undergraduate courses in broadcast announcing, broadcast programming, audio production, applied radio, applied television, sports broadcasting, computer applications, and communication technology. He is an instructor in the university’s Cisco Networking Academy as well. Scott oversees the University's television programming and serves as the Director of Internships for the school's Communication Department.
Scott holds a Bachelors degree in Radio-Television from Butler University and a Masters degree in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University.
Scott’s professional service has included terms on the boards of directors of the Radio-Television News Directors Association, the Indiana Associated Press, and the National Association of State Radio Networks. He currently serves as president of the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters and is an advisory board member for Warren Central High School radio station WEDM-FM. His professional memberships include the Radio-Television News Directors Association, the Broadcast Education Association, College Media Advisers, and the Society of Professional Journalists.
Of a more personal nature, Scott and his wife Lee Ann, a fourth-grade teacher, reside in Greenwood, Indiana. They have a five-year-old son, Nathaniel, and a two-year-old daughter, Marissa. |

Nancy Carlson
Nancy Carlson is Associate Professor of Telecommunications at Ball State where she has taught for 24 years. Prior to 1983, she was sales manager for WMDH radio, New Castle, IN, and an account executive at radio stations in Illinois. From 1971-1977, she taught speech, English, theatre and media at three high school in Illinois. Carlson has a BA from Illinois, an MA from Sangamon State, and an MBA from Ball State. |

Brent Barber
Brent Barber has been the Audio-Visual Director and one of the Video Production instructors at Crown Point High School since 2005. Before this current position, Brent spent 16 years at Chesterton High School as the Station Manager of WDSO-FM and teaching the Radio and TV classes.
Brent double-majored in college and 1992 received a BA from Purdue University Calumet in Speech Communication and Threatre Teaching along with BA in Radio and Television Production. He received his MS in Secondary Education from Purdue University Calumet in 2005.
Brent has worked at WYIN-TV in Merrillville, Indiana and done freelance work in the Chicago and Northwest Indiana area.
Brent and his wife Beth live in Valparaiso. When he is not teaching, you may find Brent doing outdoor activities or playing classic video games. |

John Overmyer
John Overmyer is a 1986 Ball State University Graduate with a Bachelor degree in Telecommunications. He is currently the Radio Instructor and Program Director for Radio Station WETL-FM, "The New Mix In Michiana". He has been in that position for the past seven years. He also co-owns an internet broadcast company named www.broadcastsport.net where he serves as the head play by play man and as Vice President of Radio Operations.
Before that John was the Sports Director at WCOE-FM in LaPorte, Indiana for 10 years and also served in the position of Network Producer for the South Bend White Sox (now the Silverhawks) from 1988 to 1989.
He is married to wife Pam and has a three-year-old son Joshua. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, attending spectator sports--especially college football, and playing with his son. |

Dan Henn
Dan Henn has been Station Manager of Warren Township radio station WEDM since August 1987. Dan also teaches Vocational Radio Broadcasting at Walker Career Center/Warren Central High School.
Dan received a Bachelors degree in Radio/TV from Butler University in 1982 and a Masters Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2000. He is Treasurer for the IASB (a post he has held since August 1987) and is a member of other broadcast associations including NAB, BEA, IBA, and IRTS.
Before joining Warren Township, Dan served as a graduate assistant in the Communication Department at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana – Lafayette) and also worked for WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, IN as a news producer, assignment editor, and assistant News Director. |

John M. Morris
John Morris has been General Manager of the University of Southern Indiana radio station WSWI, since August 1999. Before becoming General Manager, John was Sports Director for AM 820. He did play-by-play of men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball. John also teaches classes within the Radio/TV discipline. Classes he teaches include Media Production, Radio/TV Performance, Writing for Broadcast Media, Radio/TV Programming and Sportscasting.
John received a Bachelors degree in Broadcasting from the University of Wyoming in 1986 and a Master's Degree in Human Resources Development from Indiana State University in1998. He is Executive Director for Indiana Association of Broadcasters and a member of the Broadcaster Educators Association.
John has also worked at radio stations in northern Indiana, Missouri, and Idaho. He has worked in news, sports, sales, and production. |
